DigiElch - Frequently Asked Questions

1. How do I get the Hardware fingerprint of my computer?
The hardware fingerprint  is shown in a dialog box that can be invoked when executing the following steps:

  • activate DigiElch's  start menu by restarting the program or by
       closing all child windows.
  • click on "Help" in the menu bar.
  • click on  "Your DigiElch License".

If the activation period of the trial version (or that of a temporary license) has already expired the hardware fingerprint is shown in the Enter Key dialog that appears immediately after starting DigiElch.

2. How do I get the Product Key of my DigiElch installation?
The product key  is shown in a dialog box that can be invoked when executing the following steps:

  • activate DigiElch's  start menu by restarting the program or by
       closing all child windows.
  • click on "Help" in the menu bar.
  • click on  "Your DigiElch License".

If the activation period of the trial version (or that of a temporary license) has already expired the hardware fingerprint is shown in a dialog box that appears immediately after starting DigiElch.

3. Why do I need  an Activation Key?
Immediately after installing DigiElch by means of the DigiElch
.zip archive  the program is running as trial version with some restricted features for up to 14 days. Both the restricted working period and the restricted features will be removed if an Activation Key for a DigiElch license has been purchased and entered in the Enter Key dialog box. The latter appears when clicking on   "Your DigiElch License" in the "Help" item of DigiElch's start menu (see 1.)  Note that each Activation Key is valid only for the computer having exactly the hardware fingerprint for which the key was generated.

4. What is and how do I get the Build of a program?
The build variable is used to distinguish between programs of one and the same version which differ slightly in their properties. These differences may result from fixing bugs or from improving features in response to the comments of users. The actual build of a program is shown when clicking on the About TitraSim command in the help menu. An update is not required if the build variable shown there  is the same as that indicated on the
download page.

5. How do I start DigiElch with administrator rights?
Click with the right mouse button on the DigiElch.exe file  localized at C:\Program Files\ElchSoft\DigiElch 4.5 by default. Select "Properties", open the  "Compatibility"-TabSheet and activate the option "Run as Administrator".

6. What is the difference between DigiElch 4.0 and 4.5?DigiElch 4.5 is functionally identical to the same build of DigiElch 4.0. Both versions differ only in the protections system.

  • DigiElch 4.0 requires access to the Internet not only when installing
the program but also to keep it running. Disconnected from the
Internet the program stops working after a couple of days. It
continues working as soon as it is re-connected to the Internet.
  • DigiElch 4.5 does not require access to the Internet for installing or
running the program. Access to the Internet is required only once
for activating the program by means of an Activation Key. The
latter is available on the  the ElchSoft Homepage and  can be
obtained with any computer (not necessarily with the one on which
       the program is running).

7. Enter Activation Key
Use Copy&Paste to transfer Name and Activation Key shown in your user account without spelling errors into the Enter Key dialog that appears either immediately after starting DigiElch (if a previous activation period has expired) or  by clicking on Help -> Your DigiElch License in DigiElch's
